July 13, Sunday TOVSAR Training Red Rock Wilderness Overlook Regional Park near Leesburg VA

Take Rt 7 from Winchester area about 30 miles to Leesburg

Stay on highway until 7 turns in to 15 North

Go past large shopping center on the right

then turn right on to Edwards Ferry road.

Go about 1.5 miles and the park is on your left.

We will work on clue awareness and navigation using terrain features.

August 2-3 - Civil Air Patrol SAR Weekend:

Please mark your calendars with the Group 3 Emergency Services Bivouac during the weekend of 2-3 August 2008. The location will be the Elizabeth Furnace Recreation Area of George Washington National Forest near Front Royal, Virginia. We have permission from the U.S. Forest Service to conduct SAR training. 

The activity will begin at 0900 on Saturday, 2 August 2008 and conclude at 1300 on Sunday, 3 August 2008. Staff should plan to arrive on Friday afternoon, 1 August 2008 for set up. We will camp Saturday night in the Group Camp area. Staff and others who arrive on Friday afternoon will need to make their own arrangements to stay in the family campground. Each participant will need to bring sufficient food, water, shelter, personal equipment appropriate for their ES specialty, and other essentials for the weekend.

The 2008 ES Bivouac will involve extended ground team field operations including a night exercise.
