| NEWS RELEASE:
She's big, she can be noisy and she has a big nose. She's the newest
member of Top of Virginia Search and Rescue Group (TOVSAR). Her name is Curly
and she is a two and a half years old bloodhound owned by Jim Coots of
Gore. Curly
was just certified by the Virginia Bloodhound Search and Rescue
Association of Virginia. Curly's
certification as search ready came after approximately two years of
training. Nor was the training just for Curly;
Jim had to undergo hours of field and classroom work as well. Jim. a field
team member of TOVSAR and Curly
had to work many weekends and weekdays traveling throughout Virginia and
other states as well to achieve this level of expertise. Dogs are becoming
an integral part of search and rescue. With Curly's
tracking ability, TOVSAR has a quick response asset for finding lost or
missing persons.
