Search Terminated: June 17, 2002 at 1459 hours, subject found alive and unhurt
Notes: TOVSAR was called by Clarke County Sheriff's Office to manage the search for a missing hiker along the Appalachian Trail. The subject became separated from his hiking companions and was described as exhausted and dehydrated. A search was mounted along the trail and adjacent woods. The subject had "gotten a second wind" and unknowingly hiked past his companions as they made camp. He was found by searchers along the trail the following afternoon. TOVSAR was assisted by Dogs-East, Blue & Gray Search Dogs, Rockingham-Augusta Search and Rescue, RockSAR, Appalachian Search and Rescue Council, Civil Air Patrol, Shenandoah Farms Fire Company, and various other SAR and police agencies.
