| July 18, 2001 Dear Members of the Search and Rescue Team, I want to express my deep gratitude to all those who participated in the search for my husband, Tom, after he wandered away from the assisted living facility in Blacksburg where we now live. My family and I truly appreciate the time and effort provided by members of your team that contributed to the successful rescue of Tom on Monday, June 18. Your willingness to have personal plans interrupted over the Father's Day weekend in order to help with our family crisis displays much kindness and compassion, for which we are very grateful. Words cannot express my joy and relief when I heard the words, "We found him!" God's presence kept me hopeful throughout the long hours of waiting, and your unceasing effort to continue the search until Tom was found helped make the wait more bearable. Thank you so much for your part in restoring Tom to us safely. |
